Scotland’s Golf Coast announce champion of first Saltire Trophy

Scotland’s Golf Coast Festival dates announced

Week-long series of events to run from 18th October

Scottish Open venues Gullane, Dunbar and Renaissance will be among the host courses when East Lothian holds its first Golf Coast Festival in October.

The week-long series of events will take place from 18 – 24th October.

Scotland’s Golf Coast Festival’s programme begins on Sunday 18th October with a 9-hole challenge warm-up on Gifford’s 9-hole course, followed by a welcome reception at Duck’s at Kilspindie that evening.

Commencing on Monday 19th October, the Saltire Trophy is the main draw of the festival. Open to all amateur golfers, the 72-hole Stableford tournament will be played over four links courses in one of the finest golfing destinations in the world.

The week begins with a stiff challenge at Gullane No. 1, home of the 2015 Scottish Open. This is followed by a visit to Longniddry’s mix of links and woodland.

Wednesday is a rest day, where golfers can prepare for the final two days and enjoy the surrounding area before tackling Dunbar, an Open Championship qualifying course, on Thursday 22 October.

The week will conclude at the exclusive Renaissance Club on Friday 23rd October 2015, including a prize giving that evening.

Those wishing to stay in the area over the weekend can enter The Heritage Hickory Challenge, played at Musselburgh Links on Saturday 24th October.

Contestants will face the unique challenge of testing their skills with a set of hickory clubs at the world’s oldest golf course, and one of the original Open Championship venues.

Scotland’s Golf Coast is offering a diverse range of accommodation to competitors, proving easy access to golf courses when taking time out from competing.

Attendees have the choice between 5-star luxury hotels, family-run bed and breakfasts, self-catering apartments or centuries-old stately homes.

To find a suitable hotel for your trip to Scotland’s Golf Coast Festival, visit www.golfeastlothian.com/accomodation. It is recommended that you reserve your place early to avoid disappointment.

*Scotland’s Golf Coast welcomes three professional events to the area this year. The first Scottish Open pre-qualifier will take place at North Berwick; Gullane will welcome the Scottish Open; and the Scottish Senior Open will be hosted at Archerfield Links.
