American Golf to offer free coaching sessions
Leading retailer American Golf will offer free lessons across the country next month.
The hour-long sessions will be open to all levels of golfer at 73 of its stores, in a bid to help grow the game as part of National Golf Month.
Specific women’s and junior sessions will also be available at many stores, a move aimed at removing some of the barriers to participation in these under-represented groups.
To have the support of American Golf is fantastic for National Golf Month" American Golf has teamed up with Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ campaign to promote golf as an accessible, healthy sport. Through joint promotion with ‘This Girl Can’, the company hopes to reach an audience of non-golfers who will have immediate access to free National Golf Month taster sessions.
“To have the support of American Golf is fantastic for National Golf Month,” said director of National Golf Month, Doug Poole.
“With so many venues and PGA Professionals on hand to offer free coaching, the work that they’re putting into helping the initiative will have a real impact on growing the game of golf.”
American Golf’s support of National Golf Month is the first of several initiatives it will undertake this year. The company will hold its first ever 9 hole championship and long drive championship, and also roll out its junior championship nationwide.
The company will also be participating in the National Golf Month 30ft putt challenge. Each store will aim to be the most inventive 30ft putters in the company; the first video, from head office, can be found here.
