Driver test results: Cobra Fly-Z video review
First impressions: We’ve got similar colour options to last year’s Bio Cell range with orange, blue, white and black all available. And anyone who thinks Cobra are just a ‘loud’ brand who put style over substance are highly mistaken.
There’s a whole lot of exciting technology in this new range from Cobra including flip-zone weighting, speed pockets and a great range of adjustability.
I was testing the Fly-Z model in blue and I have to say it really suited my eye and made hitting it loads of fun.
What they say: The Fly-Z driver is engineered to deliver the ultimate blend of maximum distance and increased forgiveness. The low, back CG zone weighting delivers low spin, mid-high launch and fast ball speeds across the face.
There is also the Fly-Z+ with an adjustable Flip-Zone weighting system to fine tune the ball flight and an off-set XL version aimed at helping the high handicappers.
NCG verdict: This was one of the longest drivers on test for me and I really enjoyed hitting with it. I don’t know whether it’s anything to do with the look which just makes it that bit more fun than others on test.
It’s down to personal preference as some are after a more traditional look, but please don’t be put off from trying this driver out.
It was hot off the face and had a really sweet sound. Very easy to adjust but in the 10.5 setting which I had it in, the ball flight was nice and high without being too spinny.
Some may find the look at address a bit busy but I couldn’t fault the performance.
