“I have been very fortunate to play for a lot of great captains. Each one had their own uniqueness but all had one common goal of representing the USA and the cup. I will do my best to uphold the honour and tradition that the previous captains have set.
“The girls today can go out and want to beat your brains out, but then they go home and they dress up and like to have fun.
“I would say when you don’t play, don’t play. Just get away from it. A lot of these girls, like Inbee, when we have a week off, she goes over and plays in Japan. I think sometimes you just get burned out.
Our tour has changed. We’re a world tour now. We’re global. We have a lot of diversity on our tour “I’ve played with Paula [Creamer] on Solheim Cups a lot, and when you play on a Solheim Cup you really bond. Paula reminds me a lot of my daughters, and I’ve just kind of treated her that way.
“Paula has got heart, and she loves the Solheim Cup. You don’t have to get her all fired up. She’s fired up as soon as she gets on the plane.
“Our tour has changed. We’re a world tour now. We’re global. We have a lot of diversity on our tour.
“When I was growing up, I did not know what the LPGA was. It wasn’t a goal of mine to play on the LPGA. I just kind of fell into it. Now these girls are growing up and they know what the LPGA is. They know they want to be a professional golfer.”
