These new adjustable woods are aimed primarily at the better player but still score highly on forgiveness

Ping’s new i25 fairway woods are designed to look compact and be powerful off the tee.

Made from 17-4 stainless steel, the heads offer a sleeker frame to enhance shot making. They have a taller face with an extremely thin perimeter design that helps increase ball velocity for distance and versatility, while improved internal weighting bolsters MOI for accuracy.

The woods feature what Ping describe as “subtle racing stripes” on the crown that frame the ball at address.

The same width as a golf ball, the stripes offer a visual cue (consciously or sub-consciously) that can lead to multiple benefits,” said the company. “They can help the player aim the club face accurately, align one’s body to the target, and assist in taking the club back on the proper path.”

Using Trajectory Tuning technology, lofts are adjustable +-1/2º. The lightweight, adjustable hosel maintains the same outer diameter and mass of Ping’s traditional fixed hosels and provides the benefits of adjustability without sacrificing the performance that’s often lost in clubs with bulkier designs. Ping’s industry-first PWR shaft family offers unique weights and stiffness profiles without altering swingweight.

What this means is that you can try shafts of different weights in the same flex, allowing you to find the feel that you are looking for. So if you fit into a stiff shaft, for example, you can try it in 55, 65 and 75g versions according to personal preference. You might be surprised how much difference 10g, let alone 20g, makes to the feel and your ability to find the middle of the club on a more consistent basis.
