FIRST LOOK: Callaway’s X Hot fairway

More distance from both the tee and the fairway

THE X Hot and X Hot Pro are the longest and most consistent fairway wood in Callaway’s history.

Whether it is off the tee or from the fairway the X Hot range produces uncompromised distance and, with a shallower face, the low and high handicapper alike can launch the ball easily and with unrivalled power.

The ball comes off the face at a ‘Characteristic Time’ rating of 240 which is just five points less than the X Hot driver and this is done via a forged Speed Frame Face Cup. So the face is thinner, hotter and also lighter which allows weight to be re-positioned to positively influence performance and spin-control.

X Hot also marks a return of Callaway’s legendary Warbird sole, with updated design features including an enhanced curvature that aids playability from all lies, both on the fairway and from the rough.

Another interesting point is that the weighting inside the head projects from the sole towards the face into the area of the cup.  This lowers the CG to produce a low spinning, penetrating trajectory for improved ball speed, greater distance and consistent performance.

And like the X Hot driver this comes with the Project X Velocity shaft to help further with speed and consistency.

The Pro models offer a more compact head shape which is more visually appealing to better players and allows for greater workability.

"The X Hot and X Hot Pro are the longest and most consistent fairway wood in Callaway’s history" Callaway say: “We think we have set a new and extremely high bar in the fairway wood category. The distance gains are for real. In testing with Alvaro Quiros he gained nearly 18 yards against the gamer in his bag.”

Been watching and playing golf since the early 80s and generally still stuck in this period. Huge fan of all things Robert Rock, less so white belts. Handicap of 8, fragile mind and short game
