Bridgestone have created a new subsidiary company in the UK to drive a new ball fitting programme around golf clubs over the coming months.
“The market in the UK & Ireland is a very important one for us and, together with our retail partners, we are determined to build the golf ball business here in the years to come,” says Akiji Shimizu, CEO for Bridgestone Golf UK.
Using a Bridgestone Science Eye Field machine, as many as three out of four amateur golfers involved in custom-fit sessions have been found to have a swing speed of less than 105 mph – yet half of them chose to use a ball designed for the faster swing speeds of the elite Tour players.
It is estimated that correct diagnosis can add more than 10 yards to a golfer’s driving distance and improve accuracy.
