As John said, "We want to stop visitors from flying over here to get to Scotland; they really don't know what they're missing".The result is a charming, personal guide to more than twenty of Northumberland's best courses, prefaced by a well researched and warm introduction to the landscape, history (hence the title) and settlements of the county.The book has a foreword by His Grace the Duke of Northumberland, who confesses to being a seriously poor golfer, but who is a great lover of the Northumbrian countryside so much in evidence in this book, which is copiously illustrated with black and white photographs.
