Know your own swing

How to become aware of what the club is doing

Eyes wide shut

When you are next at the range try this drill to see how good your awareness is of your swing. Take the club away, stopping at knee height and then do it with your eyes shut to see if the club is in the same position. When you shut your eyes you get more of a sensation of where your hands are, rather than where you are placing the clubhead, and you will become more aware of what your body is doing. Then try this with your hands at hip and shoulder height – at first you will be amazed how far out you can get.
