Why the claw grip could work for you

How a change in putting grip could lead to a change in fortunes

Lose the wrists

A lot of missed putts are down to an excessive wrist action. A smoother method is encouraged when the shoulders and arms are the main components of the stroke. So, if your wrists are taking over, then this variation on the ‘claw’ could reap dividends.

Left hand first

Place your left hand on the club as normal with the thumb pointing down the middle of the grip.

V for victory

With your right hand, make a ‘V’ underneath the grip. Use the forefinger of the left hand to keep your right thumb on the grip.

All in place

The right hand is now locked in place and the shoulders and arms are back in control.
