Stop going over the top

Start your swing the right way

The wrong path

A lot of amateurs work the club so far on the inside on the way back that it gives them only one option on the downswing – going over the top. This means that they won’t release the club due to a fear of the ball going left so instead they ‘chicken wing’ it through impact and a slice is the result.

The right path

Working the club outside plane is far more playable – don’t let that right arm get stuck to the body on the way back.
