Preview of 2012: Tiger factor
We begin our look ahead a most eagerly-anticipated season
1 Will Tiger be back to his best?
THE manner of the Chevron win, finishing birdie-birdie, was impressive, the fact it was an end-of-year limited field takes the gloss off it.
Given the last two years a pair of ‘regular’ PGA Tour wins would be progress but we all know the only things he, or we, care about are the Majors.
Much is made of Tiger having now turned 36. At the same age Jack Nicklaus was on the same mark – 14. Nicklaus then missed out on the next 10 Majors.
Despite coming back to the field there’s still plenty of time and whatever happens in the coming months few would bet against Tiger at Augusta.
Two years ago we were licking our lips at the prospect of a ‘Tiger Slam’ and the bookies still have him as a clear favourite in all four, though you would imagine one would do just fine.
