Preview of 2012: Rory's world
No.5: Rory had us spellbound at times in 2011, but what lies ahead?
5 Will Rory back up his brilliant 2011?
FOR many the most fascinating four rounds of the year will be McIlroy’s return to Augusta.
Last April he was ordinary with the putter yet still led by four, he then unravelled to an 80 to finish 10 behind South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel.
Few wondered how a 21 year old would ever bounce back from such a mauling, a few days later he was third in Malaysia, 70 days later he was a Major champion.
This year McIlroy will not likely know too much about this year’s other Major venues. For example, he was only 12 when the Open last visited Lytham and nine when Lee Janzen won the US Open at Olympic.
A World No 1 girlfriend, new management company and, once again, a member of the PGA Tour, his life is rarely dull.
With a string of high finishes to end 2011, there’s nothing to suggest Rory’s star won’t keep rising.
