Cleveland Classic 290 driver

NCG's test team review all the latest kit independently. Find out what they thought of the Cleveland Classic 290 driver...

"I like the tall, retro head - it looks fantastic - but I just couldn't get on with the shaft. It felt very inconsistent." JaW
"The feel is lovely, but I got a very loopy flight from the shaft. You'd imagine that, with a proper shaft in it, this would be fantastic." DM
"The lightweight shaft makes it hard to know where the head is. Better players needing more yards will love this." JoW

I brought the Classic Tour 310 with 9.5 loft and xtra stiff shaft. I got it this week and used it at the local course. The deep face gives you confidents that the club will perform and it did for me. The smaller head (440cc) also looks better at address. I found I could draw and fade it which is something I have not been able to do with my other driver. This driver does the business and it looks great with or without the leather head cover.
