Lincolnshire's Top 10 courses

It may be famously flat, but you might be surprised at this county’s depth of quality. Here are 10 reasons to make a trip to Lincolnshire
Seacroft
Seacroft
1 Woodhall Spa
ONE of the very finest inland courses in England may also be one of the most under rated.
As unremittingly brilliant as it is exacting, Woodhall Spa’s Hotchkin course (below) regularly surprises those who travel to this peaceful small town to play it.
Indeed its relatively remote location is the only reason it is not even more highly regarded.

2 Seacroft
SEACROFT has been in existence since 1895 and is as traditional a links course as you are likely to find. It is an out and back layout which is situated on quite a narrow site adjacent to the Gibraltar Point nature reserve in Skegness. Adaptation to the modern game has not spoiled the gloriously old-fashioned feel, with tight undulating and hogsback fairways, a number of blind shots, 75 bunkers and the occasional impenetrable buckthorn all waiting to punish anything other than a perfect stroke. This really is golf at its very best.

3 North Shore
IN creating North Shore, James Braid’s challenge was to transform a unique blend of exposed coastline and lush tree-lined parkland into a course that would demand expertise with every hickory-shafted club.
The strong easterly wind can cause even the best players a headache and the course is overlooked by the refurbished Georgian building that doubles as its clubhouse and a hotel.

4 De Vere Belton Woods
WITH three top-class courses and 45 holes, Belton Woods is arguably the county’s most comprehensive venue.
Established in 1991, each layout has matured and improved year-on-year, with 45 of the very best holes in the Midlands at the ready.
Each course has its own unique character and, with a driving range, golf school and stunning clubhouse, there are few better places in this area of England for your society or corporate day.

5 Horncastle
SET in lovely countryside, Horncastle offers some of the most peaceful and tranquil surroundings in the county.
The picturesque 18-hole layout offers a stern challenge to all abilities and, while it’s not the longest at almost 5,600 yards, a number of water hazards and expert bunkering leaves you with plenty to think about.
