THE George Washington Hotel and Golf Club is a challenging tree-lined complex that is very clearly on the way up.

The club has undertaken a rebuilding process, with ditches and ponds added to examine every aspect of your game. What is more, the greens of old have been dramatically improved to reward good strokes.

The par-73 championship layout is dotted with natural hazards to challenge both occasional and seasoned players.

Off the course seven Par 3 academy holes and a 20-bay floodlit driving range add to the comprehensive facilities.

The course is attached to the George Washington Hotel and with easy access to the A1, A19 and within six miles of both Newcastle and Sunderland it is easy to see why it is such a hit with societies.
