Heacham Manor
Hunstanton, Norfolk
This is an outstanding play-and-stay venue in tranquil Norfolk
WITH a championship-length course and a charming 16th Century hotel, Heacham Manor provides the perfect combination of beautiful accommodation and top class golf.
Heacham Manor was the first golf hotel in the west of Norfolk and it has been quickly established as THE place to base yourself for a golf break in the county.
The course is set within an area of important landscape quality and has been designed carefully, fitting seamlessly into the natural environment.
It is therefore home to many natural hazards, including two rivers and four lakes, and thus has the ability to test even the best.
The charming Grade II-listed house, steeped in history and dating back to the 16th Century, has been carefully restored and converted into a luxury country hotel with gardens.
Part of the North West Norfolk Golf Tour you can play three of the very best courses around, including Heacham, the magnificent links of Hunstanton and Kings Lynn, with excellent prices available.
Opened in May 2009, this well-respected 18-hole course is a superb 6,622-yard challenge off the whites, but over 7,000 off the blue tips (there are five sets of tees), and has some of the best greens in the area.
The course provides an excellent test of your skill in a picturesque location surrounded by stunning coastal scenery.
Heacham Manor was the first golf hotel in the west of Norfolk and it has been quickly established as THE place to base yourself for a golf break in the county.
The course begins in a parkland style as it is routed up Redgate Hill through established and newly planted trees. This landscape soon changes to a more links style with greater mounding, more shrub planting and raised undulating greens adding to the test.
The front nine remains predominately links style with three large lakes to negotiate. The first and second lakes are linked by a winding stream fed from a weir which protects the front of the par-3 5th hole.
The third and largest lake provides the setting for the signature 7th hole. Also a par 3, the hole requires a well struck shot to carry the 100 yards of water fronting the green.
The 11th also incorporates the large lake which challenges you to take on the green with your second shot.
The next few holes return to a parkland setting with excellent views of The Wash afforded from the 14 tee. The 15th plays from an elevated tee down towards the Hotel and in full view of the terrace and conservatory.
The final three holes cross the Heacham river providing a good test at the end of the round. The 18th hole is a reachable par 5 but beware the Ringstead river on the left waiting to catch any errant approaches.
