TRAVEL: St Andrews price freeze

With the credit crunch in full force, those yet to play at the home of golf are in luck.

You'll no doubt notice over the next year or so that greenfees will rocket, so it comes as good news that the St Andrews links Trust have announced a freeze on visitor greenfees for it's seven public courses.

Anyone who's ever picked up a club has dreamt of walking down the 18th fairway on the Old Course and luckily, the price tag of £130 in the high season will not increase for the foreseeable future.

Alan McGregor, general manager of the trust said the decision was made to act 'proactively'.

"Visiting golfers have made a huge financial contribution to St Andrews Links over the years and it's enabled us to invest significantly in the courses and facilities whilst keeping the fees low." he said.

With tourism to the East of Scotland set to boom, we recommend making advanced reservations for your visit to the home of golf - they are being taken from 10am on September 3 2008.
