FANTASY: BMW International

THIS week, the European Tour heads to Germany and to the BMW International Open where several of Europe's elite travel to seek redemption after the US Open.

As it directly follows the lucrative second Major of the year, and the mental fatigue of players is high, we face a tricky decision whether to go with someone who was at Torrey Pines or someone who will arrive in Germany fresh.

The favourite to land the trophy is Retief Goosen (Pool B), who played all four rounds in San Diego, but if you delve deeper into the field, there looks to be a few familiar faces with enough talent to tame the German course.

Miguel Angel Jimenez was in excellent touch last week and Colin Montgomerie (Pool D), despite his poor showing in the States, could be worth sticking with around a track on which he has prevailed albeit in 1999.

Who would bet against two-time winner Richard Finch? The Hull-born Irish and New Zealand Open victor has been in superb form this season and with a field lacking in high-brow names, could be set for another very high finish.

With a victory to his name already this month, it seems Jeev Milkha Singh can do no wrong. The Indian star is the king of the greens and his fantastic putting stroke, combined with his keen accuracy should make him your first pick from pool E.

However, if you believe the old dogs can still rough it with the best of them, German legend Bernhard Langer could be a perfect choice. His solid run of form on the Seniors Tour is excellent and combine that with home advantage and he could be a precious addition to your starting line-up.

The wild cards this week are a pair of Spaniards, Pablo Martin and Ignacio Garrido, and both are in Pool A.

Be sure to make your transfers as soon as possible - the cut-off point will be 5pm on Wednesday.
