REVIEW: Fiesta time for Jimenez
SPAIN'S Miguel Angel Jimenez put himself firmly on track to be included in Nick Faldo's Ryder Cup team with a dramatic victory at Wentworth over the Bank Holiday weekend.
By winning the BMW PGA Championship title, courtesy of a play-off victory over Oliver Wilson, Jimenez has lifted himself to the top of the European Points List and looks to be a certainty to make it to his third Ryder Cup appearance on American soil after featuring at Brookline in 1999 and Oakland Hills in 2004.
But this victory also gave him a hat-trick of BMW titles following European Tour wins in the 2004 BMW Asian Open and the 2004 BMW International Open.
He said: "It feels great. I have won all three. This is my 20th season on the Tour and to win the most important tournament on The European Tour on my 20th anniversary, is great, fantastic."

While Jimenez, who holed a five iron at the 5th for his sixth ace on the tour, could revel in his 15th tour title after finishing on 11-under-par, it was heartbreak for Wilson who was consigned to his seventh runners-up finish of his career, and his fourth of the season.
"You know, that hurts a little," said the Mansfield-born player. "I had not been in a play-off for a while. It's better than not being in one at all I suppose. But it's great to be here in this tournament. It's the biggest tournament apart from the Majors that we play in.
"I think things might change a little bit now, but to compete in this tournament, which is a
fantastic tournament, that's what I wanted to do and that's sort of the next progression."
Fantasy Golf players who had the foresight to include Jimenez in their side can look forward to collecting 150 points, but some of the big names also challenged at some point during the week including Paul McGinley, Luke Donald, Retief Goosen, Paul Casey and of course, Robert Karlsson who agonisingly missed a short putt to get himself into the play-off and then missed the return.
Don't forget to look out for this week's preview of the Celtic Manor Wales Open, which promises to provide just as much excitement and intrigue as the European Tour's biggest names take to the Twenty Ten course.
