REVIEW: Scott snatches crown

Adam Scott finally found his range, knocking in a 48-footer at the third extra hole, to land the EDS Byron Nelson Championship from Ryan Moore.

The Australian led by three at the start of the day, then trailed by one with three to play, before both players produced a grandstand finish.

Moore birdied 16 and 17 to post a four-round-round total of seven under and Scott matched that with birdies at 16 and 18, the first after missing a 12-footer for eagle, as well as a magnificent two putt from 60 feet at the 17th.

At the first play-off hole the former Players champion came up short from just 16 feet, then misread one from 12 feet and, with Moore now in the driving seat after a precise approach, drained a huge one. Moore, the 2004 United States amateur champion, saw his 18-footer to continue the saga lip out.

Scott now has six wins on the PGA Tour and admitted this wasn't one of his most convincing displays.

"I got away with one. I dug it out of nowhere and obviously found my range. I hit it too close the other holes."

Moore, who is yet to win in the States, was buoyed by his 68 and had no complaints after such a positive effort.

"You expect a guy like that to make a putt in that situation. It didn't surprise me at all," he added.

With the victory Scott picks up 150 Fantasy Golf points and those who took advantage of Bart Bryant's inclusion as a wild card will have been delighted by the veteran's third-place finish (100 pts).

Sweden's Carl Pettersson was the highest European, tying for fourth while Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia both missed out on the chance of a top-10 after dreadful starts. Donald dropped five shots in the first four holes while Garcia gave away six in the first five - both eventually tied for 19th.
