Russell Knox became the first Scot to win a WGC event when he captured the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai in November 2015 and rose into the world’s top 50 for the first time in his career as a result.
We chatted to him at the PGA Show in Orlando to ask him a few questions about life as a tour professional.
Russell’s season so far..
Russell Knox is currently ranked the 28th best player in the world. His 2017 season so far has been steady. He started the campaign strong with 8 consecutive top 25’s including 4 top 10’s.
An 11th place finish at the RBC Heritage has been the high point of a disappointing few months for the Scot but he will be looking to turn his form around with the US Open and Open Championship not far around the corner.
His victories…
Knox has won twice on the PGA Tour and both in the 2016 season. His first win came at the WGC HSBC Championship where four consecutive rounds in the 60’s was enough for him to become the first Scottish player to win a World Golf Championship.
What made the isn more impressive was the fact that Knox was only a seventh reserve before the start of the event and it was his first ever appearance in a WGC event.
Fast forward a few months and Knox was back in the winners circle. This time at the Travellers Championship. The win kept him inside the top 5 places in the FedEx Cup rankings. A place he would stay for the whole season.
