Social Spotlight: Thomas copies Rory and Spieth gets help from unusual source

We take a look back at the best from social media from over the past few days as Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas poke fun at each other.

Rory and JT have hilarious Twitter exchange

The one similarity that brings golfers closer together is that they’re both partial to a club throw here and there… but Justin Thomas received some criticism for failing to control his emotions in Mexico.

If you missed it the world number 7 let go of his club on the follow-through of a wayward tee-shot during the final round of the WGC-Mexico Championship on Sunday, in both a hilarious and dramatic way.

Then the big boys took to Twitter and gave the situation the humour it deserved. It even involved Rory McIlroy and his club fling into a pond at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, with appearances from Rickie Fowler.

Priceless.

Thomas didn’t let that lie. Instead, dived into the archive for this still of Rory’s champion club-fling from Doral, giving it the full Peter Kostis swing analysis-treatment.

Rory and Justin are definitely two of the more ‘down-to-earth’ guys when it comes to social media and it’s actually quite refreshing!

Keep it up boys.

Jordan Spieth ‘Youtube’s’ his own swing

The past year hasn’t been easy for the former world number 1, who failed to break par in the opening rounds of the WGC-Mexico Championship. But enough was enough and Spieth eventually took to the internet for help.

I was kind of looking at highlights of a couple of tournaments where I knew I was swinging it well.

Spieth went all the way back and watched highlights from the 2015 Bridgestone Invitational to find a good swing to help with his fairway finding problems.

You can’t really blame him! Back in 2015 he was a machine, hitting green after green, holing putts left, right and centre, as well as finding fairways.

It worked too! ‘The proof is in the pudding or the hole-out, right?’

Keep it up Jordan.

Tommy Fleetwood needs a lesson on high-fiving

The on-form Englishman drained one of the most clutch birdie putts in his career on the final hole of the WGC-Mexico Championship on Sunday, leading to a solo second place finish and cheque of $850,000.

However, the 26-year-old and his caddie couldn’t avoid walking off embarrassed following this awkward high-five.

Let’s take a closer look at that.

Tommy Fleetwood

The birdie putt saw him shoot back-to-back rounds of 66 and Fleetwood’s 2017 is off to a blistering start.

Maybe practise your celebration next time, Tommy.
