Golf in Spain: The lowdown on a golfing paradise

Soak up the sun on some of the top tracks in Europe..

Golf in Spain

Hugely popular with holidaymakers across the globe, golf in Spain is a paradise for those looking for the perfect trip abroad.

Sun, sea and sangria are perhaps why many people choose to holiday in Spain, but the superb and varied courses on offer are the real reason why golf fanatics return year after year.

There are hundreds of courses to choose from and selecting your destination will be your biggest headache when planning your vacation. You can’t go wrong if you include heavyweight courses such as PGA Catalunya and Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro in your itinerary.

However, you will find the majority of Spain’s top tracks in the sunny south. One of the most popular regions is the Costa Del Sol, where there are magnificent courses at nearly every turn and the pleasant weather means they are playable all year round.

Further north you will come to Costa Blanca, over 120 miles of glorious coastline and sandy beaches. La Finca, a championship course with breathtaking views and several water hazards, and Las Colinas, a versatile masterpiece set between the hills near Murcia, are two of Costa Blanca’s finest layouts.

If you want to head out away from the mainland then the Canary and Balearic islands house some real gems. One major reason to visit Mallorca is Son Gual, a jaw-dropping course that leaves many of its visitors hungry for another round.
