Equipment: Justin Thomas what’s in the bag | 2016 CIMB Classic
Justin Thomas fired a stunning final round 64 to defend his title at the CIMB Classic, beating Hideki Matsuyama by three shots.
The win propelled Thomas up to a career-high of 21st in the Official World Golf Ranking.
It was another victory for the Titleist 917 driver, which went on sale this week, along with the 917 fairway woods.
Alex Levy and Jimmy Walker have already claimed wins with the new 917 driver which features adjustable CG placement to aid the custom-fitting process.
Titleist-staffer Thomas used the D3 version of the driver and carries a 15˚ 917 3-wood.
Rather than a hybrid, Thomas opted for a Titleist 712 2-iron to go with his 716 MB irons.
He also has a couple of slightly older wedges in the bag to go with his SM6 pitching wedge and lob wedge.
What Thomas said: “I feel like I just need to continue to build on this momentum and try to use this as kind of a springboard to the start of the year. To try to move up in the world rankings and get in that top 10, get in that top five.”
