Thomas Pieters – 9/10
(Day 1: 7/10. Day 2: 9/10)
A new star has been born in this Ryder Cup.
He admitted after dispatching big-hitting J.B Holes 3&2 in the singles that he enjoyed the atmosphere at Hazeltine, mainly because no one knew he was.
After claiming four points out of a possible five this weekend, people will certainly know who he is now.
Rafa Cabrera Bello – 9/10
(Day 1: 8/10. Day 2: 8/10)
The Spaniard should have been selected for the fourballs on Saturday alongside compatriot Sergio Garcia following their comeback in the foursomes against Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth.
Cabrera Bello showed captain Darren Clarke what he missed out on when he clinically swept aside PGA champion Jimmy Walker 3&2.
Martin Kaymer – 8.5/10
(Day 1: 3/10. Day 2: 2/10)
The German had endured a miserable weekend up until the singles and it looked like it would continue when Matt Kuchar was 3 up after seven holes.
However, Kaymer showed great resilience and strength to fightback to win 1 up.
It may have been too little, too late but it helped reduce the harshness of the scoreline.
Henrik Stenson – 8.5/10
(Day 1: 8/10. Day 2: 6/10)
The Iceman was as cool as his nickname. This weekend wasn’t his best Ryder Cup performance by any means but he stepped up to the plate for the singles to see off Jordan Spieth 3&2.
Sergio Garcia – 8/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 6/10)
What a pulsating match between Garcia and Phil Mickelson, the two Ryder Cup veterans.
Both players produced an epic battle and a draw was a fair result after some fantastic golf.
Rory McIlroy – 6/10
(Day 1: 7/10. Day 2: 9/10)
Played solidly in the singles but came up against Patrick Reed, a man in unstoppable form.
The fist pumps, finger shushing and screams of “come on!” from Mcllory was exhilarating to watch, but he couldn’t quite match Reed’s magic on the course.
I was glued to my TV as the two traded blow for blow in front of a huge and boisterous crowd.
Chris Wood – 6/10
(Day 1: 4/10. Day 2: 6/10)
Faced a tough opponent in Dustin Johnson but give him a run for his money.
He was perhaps unlucky not to see more action this weekend and he showed his qualities when he did play, but ultimately came up short against the US Open champion.
Justin Rose – 5/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 6/10)
An average showing from Rose over the weekend and his loss in the singles against Rickie Fowler came at a crucial moment.
Lee Westwood – 4/10
(Day 1: 5/10. Day 2: 5/10)
Was 2 up against rookie Ryan Moore with three to play but collapsed in the final stages as the American clinched the Ryder Cup for his country with a 1 up victory.
Westwood was a questionable wildcard selection and this was perhaps a Ryder Cup too far for the veteran.
Andy Sullivan – 3/10
(Day 1: 5/10. Day 2: DNP)
Only two appearances for Andy Sullivan in the tournament.
He went 2 up early on against Brandt Snedeker but tailed off to lose 3&1.
Matt Fitzpatrick – 2/10
(Day 1:4/10. Day 2: 5/10)
Looked a bit out of his depth but great learning experience for the youngster.
Came up against Zach Johnson in the final singles and his quality and experience shone through.
Danny Willett – 2/10
(Day 1: 5/10. Day 2: 5/10)
A Ryder Cup debut to forget for the Masters winner.
Played some decent stuff in the team sessions but perhaps was unlucky with who was partnered with.
The Yorkshireman came up against a tough opponent in Brooks Koepka and the American breezed to a 5&4 win.
Darren Clarke – 5/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 5/10)
Can’t argue with the order of today’s matches. Europe needed to get some blue on the board early on and Mcllory coming up just short against a sensational Reed was a blow.
A tough weekend for Clarke.

Patrick Reed – 10/10
(Day 1: 7/10. Day 2: 9/10)
Reed’s battle with Mcllory was a one of the greatest moments of this year’s Ryder Cup. A true classic.
The American was the talisman for his side and got the ball rolling with a morale-boosting win over Mcllory.
Ryan Moore – 9/10
(Day 1: 4/10. Day 2: 4/10)
The little-known debutant was 2 down with three to play against Westwood but showed his mettle to turn it round and win the Ryder Cup for his country.
Rickie Fowler 9/10
(Day 1: 8/10. Day 2: 4/10)
Beat Justin Rose at a crucial time to dent Europe’s hopes once and for all.
He played a vital part in helping halt a potential European fightback following wins for Henrik Stenson and Thomas Pieters.
Zach Johnson – 8.5/10
(Day 1: 7/10. Day 2: 5/10)
Was up against a young rookie in Matt Fitzpatrick and the 2015 Open champion’s experience shone through as he swept the youngster aside in the anchor match.
Clinical golf from Johnson.
Brooks Koepka – 8.5/10
(Day 1: 8/10. Day 2: 7/10)
He was a formidable opponent for Danny Willett and he swept aside the Masters champion with little fuss.
An impressive debut for the 26-year-old.
Phil Mickelson – 8/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 8/10)
‘Lefty’ played his part in the epic encounter with Sergio Garcia. It was great watching the two legends of the game battle it out.
Mickelson, as per usual, was majestic around the greens.
Brandt Snedeker – 8/10
(Day 1: 7/10. Day 2: 8/10)
Had to recover from an early deficit against Andy Sullivan, who would have been fresh having not played much in the previous days, but his class shone through as he eventually cruised to a 3&1 win.
Dustin Johnson – 8/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 4/10)
The US Open winner was up against a tricky opponent in Chris Wood. However, Johnson just snuck over then line to clinch the point.
J.B Holmes – 5/10
(Day 1: 3/10. Day 2: 7/10)
The big-hitter could do little to stop Thomas Pieters in the form he was in over the weekend.
He tried his best at the beginning, going 2 up in the fist two holes but then ran out of steam as Pieters continued to show the world his qualities.
Jimmy Walker – 5/10
(Day 1: 7/10. Day 2: 5/10)
Did put up a fight early in the back nine to reduce Rafa Cabrera Bello’s lead to just one stroke, but the Spaniard produced just one bogey in a sensational round.
Tough to compete with that kind of performance.
Matt Kuchar – 4/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 8/10)
Many would have backed Kuchar to beat an underperforming Martin Kaymer. He was 3 up after seven holes but Kaymer battled back and Kuchar had no response.
Jordan Spieth – 3/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2 4/10)
Formed a solid partnership once again with Patrick Reed this weekend but he was never fully on his game.
Limped to a 3&2 defeat against Henrik Stenson.
Davis Love – 8/10
(Day 1: 6/10. Day 2: 7/10)
Has his redemption after a shock defeat at the Miracle of Medinah in 2012.
Got most of his selections spot on and the American players and officials were all working in harmony. One of Team USA’s more popular captains.
