Ryan Moore grabs final Team USA Ryder Cup spot
Davis Love III has named Ryan Moore as his final pick for this week’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National.
Moore, who narrowly missed out on the Tour Championship title on Sunday to Team Europe’s Rory McIlroy, impressed the golfing world and Captain Love as he forced the Northern Irishman to a fourth playoff hole.
The 33-year-old has never played in a Ryder Cup but boasts an impressive match play record having claimed the U.S Amateur, NCCA title and finished fifth at the WGC-Match Play earlier this year.
Moore will head straight to Minnesota to meet up with his fellow Team USA competitors following his strong second place showing in Atlanta.
Captain Love confirmed the pick via a statement through USA sports channel NBC on Sunday opting not to make the announcement himself following the untimely death of Arnold Palmer.
Moore’s pick confirms that Love has overlooked world number seven Bubba Watson in what some are deeming a risky move.
