About Brittany Lang

Brittany Lang

Brittany Lang has been there, done that and got the T-shirt in the world of golf – and her victory at this year’s US Women’s Open was the cherry on top of the cake.

The 31-year-old American beat Anna Nordqvist in a play-off  at CordeValle Golf Club in California after the Swede was given a two-stroke penalty for having slightly moved sand prior to her approach shot from the fairway bunker on the 17th.

Lang’s win was her first victory at a Major championship.

She enjoyed a glittering amateur career. Winning eight American Junior Golf Association events and twice being crowned First-Team Polo Golf Junior All-American in 2001 and 2002 are just two of the highlights. She also represented the United States at the PING Junior Solheim Cup in 2002, won the North and South Women’s Amateur and the Women’s Western Amateur Championship in consecutive weeks in 2013 and clinched the 2004 Trans National Amateur title.

Brittany Lang

Lang was a member of the victorious 2004 US Curtis Cup Team and competed as a sponsor exemption in both the 2005 Kraft Nabisco Championship and the LPGA Corning Classic.

She was also a highly successful student at Duke University, winning numerous tournaments and personal awards.

After turning professional in 2005, the current world No 20 was tied for 22nd at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament and then birdied the final hole of a seven-way play-off to earn one of the final three exempt cards for the 2006 LPGA season.

Lang recorded seven top-10 finishes in a steady rookie season in 2006.

In 2008 she crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings and the following year she tied her career-best runner-up finish at the Navistar LPGA Classic, where she crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings.

Brittany Lang

Lang came close to claiming her first professional win and a maiden Major title in 2011 when she finished as runner-up to Yani Tseng at the 2011 Women’s British Open at Carnoustie.

She made the cut 24 times out of 25 events in 2012 and finally captured her first professional win at the inaugural Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Canada following a four-way play-off.

Her strong performances on the LPGA continued over the next few years and she landed her second victory at the US Women’s Open in 2016.

Lang is also Solheim Cup veteran having represented the USA four times, winning in 2009 and 2015.
