Emily Price wins English women’s stroke play title
Emily Price won the prestigious English women’s stroke play championship by two shots at Bristol and Clifton.
The 16-year-old, from Cleobury Mortimer, birdied the last to finish on seven-under par for the championship, two ahead of Cornwall’s Georgia Price.
Local Gloucestershire player Ebonie Lewis (Knowle) was third on three-under after playing the final 36 holes in five-under par.
“It is just unbelievable,” said Price, who was three shots back with a round to play.
“It means a massive amount to win, this is almost my last event of the season and to win means so, so much.”
She’s one of the youngest winners of this title, following Charley Hull who was 15 when she triumphed five years ago.
This is Price’s fourth win of the year.
She won the Scottish girls’ open championship and two prestigious scratch events earlier in the season.
Price then took a break from golf to concentrate on her GCSEs before returning to resume her winning ways.
“It was kind of hard coming back and I’ve worked really hard these last few weeks and everything has come into place,” she said.
