About Mo Martin

Mo Martin

The 2014 Ricoh Women’s British Open winner, Mo Martin is one of the stars of the LPGA Tour.

Her love affair with golf began at the age of four thanks to her father’s influence and watching her brother come home with glistening trophies.

She would hit ball after ball on her driveway into a homemade net under her father’s instruction.

Martin’s fledgling career took off when she was crowned the individual winner of the 1991 Junior World Japan Cup.

She played collegiate golf on a scholarship at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), helping the Bruins rise to NCAA National champions in her junior year.

While earning her BA in psychology, the 33-year-old was named Bruins’ Most Valuable Player in 2002.

After turning professional in 2005, Martin earned fully exempt status on the Duramed Futures Tour in 2006.

She won three times on the Futures Tour, the most recent in 2011 at the Eagle Classic in Virginia.

Eleven top-10 finishes and one victory in 2011 earned Martin full playing privileges on the LPGA for the 2012 season.

She had a solid rookie year, finishing the season ranked second in driving accuracy and sixth on the Rolex Rookie of the Year list.

The current world No 29 earned $171,345 in winnings and finished 63rd on the money list.

In 2013, she recorded her first hole-in-one on the LPGA Tour at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. She was also ranked No 1 in driving accuracy on the Tour.

Martin clinched her first LPGA Tour win in 2014 and it was a big one. She finished one stroke ahead of Shanshan Feng and Suzann Pettersen to win the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale in Southport.

Her excellent record at the Women’s British Open continued this year when she finished tied-second at Woburn.
