Top 5: Worst Nike Golf moments

We take a look back at the not so great moments for Nike and their players..

Following Nike’s shock announcement that the company will halt it’s golf equipment sector we take a look back at some of the more challenging moments their players have endured over the years.

Rory loses it.. BIG time!

Where else to start than THAT Rory McIlroy club chuck. Comedy gold, right?

Well, maybe Rory didn’t think so as he lost his temper in fine style opting to launch his 3-iron into the lake to join his ball at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

Bless.

Tiger has a rough moment.. (sorry!)

Tiger, meet rough. Rough, meet Tiger.

This could possibly be one of the worst shots of the fourteen time Major champion’s career, and it is a tough watch!

The horror show happened back in 2011 during the Chevron World Challenge – tough break, huh?

Pettersen and the ‘gimmie putt’..

[skylab_video id=”36148″]Solheim Cup gimmie putt controversy[/skylab_video]

Alright, so maybe not an obvious one but Nike sponsored athlete Suzann Pettersen caused controversy at the 2015 Solheim Cup.

On the 17th green Alison Lee thought the hole had been halved after Charley Hull and Pettersen made their way to the last which meant an 18th hole showdown.

But as Hull, the crowd and the American team made their way to the next tee believing the match was well and truly alive Pettersen argued that the putt had never been given.

Mass confusion, tears and anger ensued. Not a great look for Nike.

Rory’s Troon tantrum..

Rory, again. Yep and this time he’s snapping clubs rather than finding the nearest water. Just a few weeks ago at Royal Troon during the 145th Open Championship the 27-year-old lost it with his 3-wood.

Again, not a great look for good old Nike.

The Northern Irishman’s anger boiled over resulting in an epic club chuck and snap. The best one we’ve ever seen? Quite possibly.

McIlroy has previous for harming his Nike golf set after bending an iron out of shape at the 2013 U.S. Open.

Tiger, well, being Tiger..

Always a PR battle for Nike.

Tiger was known for his club throws, tantrums, swearing and just general teddy out of the pram behaviour. We couldn’t quite nail down one moment for Woods, therefore just Tiger being Tiger makes it into our top 5!

Enjoy!
