Luke Donald shows you how to improve your short game..
Luke Donald is a former world number one and five-time winner on the PGA Tour. Here he shows us the best way to play a pitch shot when you find yourself below the surface of the green..
Luke uses his 60 degree Mizuno S5 wedge to play this shot. He uses the bounce of the club but makes sure he creates enough loft to get the ball up and down and stop quickly near the hole.
With that in mind Luke places the ball quite far forward in the stance and he likes the shaft to be nice and neutral. Luke explains that a lot of mistakes he sees from amateurs is that they get the ball way too far back in their stance and they lean the shaft which makes that front edge dig in and create too much of a divot.
The key points are to keep the ball nice and forward, keep some loft on the face and produce a nice, neutral swing.
