Social Spotlight: Rickie and Rory cause a stir, Tiger turns to LEGO

This week on social media Rory and Rickie caused controversy at The Players, while a famous Tiger moment was recreated...

Fashion faux pas of the week: Rickie and Rory sport some not so cool trousers

Rickie Fowler has become known as what some would call a ‘trendsetter’ on the PGA Tour, but the American and Rory McIlroy both caused a serious stir on Thursday afternoon at The Players.

The duo sported some fancy footwear and well, some not so traditional trousers dubbed as ‘jogger pants’.

Rory McIlroy The Players

Four-time Major champion McIlory donned high tops – yes – high tops, which we are assuming were inspired by Nike’s legendary range.

Rickie Fowler The Players

While, last year’s Players winner Fowler made Rory’s plain white colouring look fairly tame as the 27-year-old opted for a black base shoe with electric yellow and pink tones.

The shoes are a part of the Puma Golf Titantour range and have been dubbed the ‘Tricks model’.

A statement? Absolutely, and twitter was certainly divided on the matter.

But hey, Nike and Puma will be loving the attention.

Video of the week: Tiger’s Masters heroics recreated in LEGO

Tiger Woods’ chip on the 16th at Augusta in 2005 is so good that it’s still finding new ways to make headlines.

Every golf fan in the world has seen the crazy shot that set the Masters alight eleven years ago, but now one Instagram user has decided to give the whole thing a very different look.

In your life have you seen anything like that? #TigerWoods #VerneLundquist #PGA

Purchase of the week: Danny Willett treats himself following Masters win

How else do you celebrate becoming a Major champion? You buy a Ferrari, of course.

The Yorkshireman shocked the world at Augusta last month and with a serious paycheck of £1.25m alongside the glory of the green jacket, Willett finally decided to purchase his dream car.

The world No.9 said: “A Ferrari. White. California T. It was one of them – I’ve wanted one for a long, long time and I said: ‘You know what, if I can’t buy one now then I’m never going to’.”

In case you missed it: Jason Kokrak did something pretty special

Jason Kokrak may not have made the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship over the weekend but he certainly produced a moment of magic.

The 18th green at Quail Hollow is fairly well guarded by a number of different obstacles but on Friday during the second round the 30-year-old managed to find one of the more unlikely spots on the golf course.

As he hit his approach shot into the 18th he must’ve been thinking the worst but instead of finding the dreaded creek, or one of the many bunkers, his ball finished up on the second tier of the hospitality tent and well, the rest is just insane!

Unfortunately, there was no fairy tale ending for Kokrak as he went on to miss his par putt and ultimately the cut for the tournament. But he certainly left Quail Hollow with what has to be one of the shots of the season.

Although that is probably little consolation!
