Masters 2016: What’s in Danny Willett’s winning bag?

We take a look at the clubs which helped Danny Willett win the Green Jacket

Danny Willett won the Masters with a bag full of Callaway clubs and an Odyssey putter.

The Englishman was solid off the tee with his Callaway XR16 driver – the regular model not the pro version.

It was interesting to see Willett opt for two Apex utility irons rather than hybrids which may have been due to the windy conditions experienced at Augusta National over the four days.

Willett hit a number of key iron shots during his final round using the Callaway Apex Pro.

The most significant was probably his 7-iron approach to the par-3 16th which set up a crucial birdie to give him a three shot lead with two holes to play.

Short-game is always key at Augusta and Willett showcased his impressive skills with the Callaway Mack Daddy 2 wedges in lofts of 47˚, 54˚ and 58˚.

After missing the green back left on 17 Willett played the most delicate of chip and runs to save par which earned him a big thumbs up from Lee Westwood’s caddy Billy Foster.

And you don’t win the Masters without holing your fair share of putts. Willett’s Odyssey Versa #1 in Black-White-Black design ensured he stayed bogey-free on Sunday to card a Green Jacket-clinching 67.

3-wood: Callaway XR 16 (Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana White 70X shaft), 15 degrees

5-wood: Callaway XR 16 (Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana White 80X shaft), 19 degrees

Utility irons: Callaway Apex Utility (2- and 4-iron; True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 Superlite shafts)

Irons: Callaway Apex Pro (5-9; True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 Superlite shafts)

Wedges: Callaway Mack Daddy 2 (47S-11 degrees; True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 Superlite shaft), Callaway Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind (54T-11 and 58T-9 degrees; True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 Superlite shafts)

Putter: Odyssey Versa #1W (Black-White-Black)

Ball: Callaway SR3

Willett said: “I did a lot of testing with the driver over the winter and I didn’t hit too many balls with it before it went straight in the bag. The new XR technology did exactly what the Callaway Tour Reps said it would do. It gave me a little more ball speed and helped me control my ball flight. So it was a win-win.”
