Improved bounce and sole options with softer feel and more spin, writes James Savage
Cobra have added wedges to the new King range of clubs offering more variation and personalisation than ever before.
The King Wedge has a new muscle shape, progressive grooves, variable face roughness and three sole grind configurations.
Cobra say they have been working on the wedge for two years using the feedback of staff players such as Rickie Fowler, Jonas Blixt and Lexi Thompson.
“Through that we’ve greatly improved wedge feel and versatility, giving golfers the confidence to hit a variety of shots around the green,” said Jose Miraflor, Director of Product Marketing at Cobra Golf.
Cobra also say the King Wedge is their softest feeling to date thanks to extensive research into vibrational frequencies.
They are designed and manufactured using new Progressive Milled Grooves which feature wider grooves and gapping on higher lofted wedges, and traditional groove spacing on lower lofted wedges.
The wider groove design allows higher lofted wedges (56Ëš-60Ëš) to grab the golf ball for increased spin.
For improved customisation and fitting three sole grind configurations provide golfers with the ability to choose the perfect wedge to match their game and turf conditions.
The Versatile sole features a medium bounce (8Ëš-10Ëš) to provide overall versatility on medium to firm turf conditions.
The Classic configuration has a high sole bounce (11Ëš-12Ëš) and a narrow sole for ease of use on all turf conditions,
The WideLow option has a low bounce (4Ëš-7Ëš) with a wide sole that works well on medium to soft turf conditions.
A new durable satin nickel chrome plating finish helps prevent glare.
