Social Spotlight: Thomas Pieters’ bizarre haircut & Lexi in 1905
Insta of the Week: Thomas Pieters’ Photoshop haircut
When 24-year-old professional golfer Thomas Pieters went to check his official PGA Tour profile picture he was in for a shock.
The Belgian noticed a not-so-subtle difference in his hairstyle. Gone were the curly locks, seemingly airbrushed out of existence in a particularly bad Photoshop job. He put the evidence on Instagram.
“Guess the PGA Tour doesn’t like my curly hair, so they gave me a photoshop haircut… The pic on the left is the Official PGA Tour head shot, the pic on the right is the original. #fail #WhereAreMyCurls”
The PGA Tour quickly responded, clarifying that it’s not unusual to re-touch the pictures, but that in this case the vendor was a little too “heavy handed.”
The moral of this story is: get a haircut, or the PGA Tour will be forced to take matters into their own hands. And believe me, they aren’t very good at using Photoshop.
Photo(s) of the Week: Lexi Thompson’s 1905 photoshoot
2016 is set to be a big year 20-year-old Lexi Thompson. After finishing last year with her all-time high of 4th in the World Rankings (up from No. 10 in 2014), the American will look to build on her pair of tour wins and three top-10 finishes in 2015.
And while an exciting golfing year lies ahead – including the Olympics along with the chance to claim a second career major – in a recent photo shoot with Red Bull Thompson rewound the clock to portray what it was like to be a female golfer in the early 1900s.
To make the recreations as authentic as possible, photographer Robert Snow used lighting techniques from the early 1900s.
“It was so different,” Thompson said in her interview with Red Bull.
“I don’t know how they played golf in those outfits, especially if it was hot out. But they made it work.”
Video of the Week: College student holes full-court putt, wins $500
This is impressive. During half-time at a basketball game, Franklin Pierce University student Brandon Knight attempted a putt from one end of a basketball court to the other (a distance of 95 feet).
With $500 on the line, a crowd of his peers surrounding him and just a 3-inch hole to aim for – that’s 1.25 inches smaller than an actual golf hole – you’d be forgiven for thinking he was feeling the pressure.
And what does he do? Holes it, and the place explodes.
