WITB: Charl Schwartzel, Alfred Dunhill Championship
After opening rounds of 66 and 67 Charl Schwartzel just needed back-to-back rounds of 70 to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship by four shots in South Africa.
It was the fourth victory for Schwartzel at Leopard Creek after victories in 2005, 2013 and 2014. He has finished in the top-two in 8 of his 11 appearances in Malelane with an aggregate score of 122-under-par.
Schwartzel relied on a full bag of Nike gear to help him clinch his 10th European Tour victory, becoming the youngest South African to do so since Ernie Els in 2002.
“I wish we could play some Majors here, it’s definitely my favourite place”. Charl Schwartzel The victory for the South African should put him back into the worlds top 40, and he is glad to see that his hard work is finally paying off.
“It feels good. The way I’ve played the last few years. I’ve been down in quite a slump, I didn’t really see myself coming out and winning”.
