Betting tips: Portugal Masters 2015

Who we think can earn you some cash on the European Tour this weekend

With the Oceanico  Victoria Golf Course hosts the Portugal Masters for the ninth consecutive year with the battle for DP World Tour Championship places really hotting up.

The 2014 rendition of this tournament was severely weather-affect with Alexander Levy only required rounds of 63 and 61 to take home the trophy.

Organisers will be hoping that the 90% chance of thunderstorms during Saturday and Sunday will prove to be false.

The course itself will suit aggressive players – a fairly straight course that offers few tricky holes – despite seven holes with water in play.

Bernd Wiesberger – 10/1

Martin Kaymer –  10/1

Chris Wood – 18/1

Soren Kjeldsen – 18/1

Tommy Fleetwood – 20/1

Alexander Levy – 28/1

The 2014 winner is well worth a punt at this price – which seems strange considering he is the defending champion – especially as his game as started to improve over the past few weeks on the European Tour.

A solid top-20 finish at Woburn last week encourages the plucky gambler. No doubt the Frenchman will be looking to prove that his win last year was more than just a case of a gift from the weather.

Tyrell Hatton – 35/1

The young Englishman is without a win on the European Tour and will no doubt be buoyed by the other young gun Matt Fitzpatrick taking the title at the British Masters.

We are in no doubt that Hatton has all the attributes to win titles on the European Tour, and will be determined to guarantee his place at the season ending DP World Tour Championship. He currently sits 32nd in the standings with fellow pick Levy just five places behind.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello – 60/1

Our final pick this week is the Spaniard Rafa Cabrera-Bello.

Despite missing three straight cuts, Bello will be pleased that the warmer (albeit momentary) weather is expected, having admitted himself that he prefers the warmer conditions.

He has also made six cuts in six showings at this tournament, so he’s likely to give it a good go this weekend.
