NCG sat down with England cricketer Jimmy Anderson recently.
The Lancashire cricketer, nicknamed the Burnley Express, has represented England in 100 Test matches and over 160 one day internationals, but we asked him a little bit about his golfing talents.

Dream fourball?
I would quite like to play with the two young lads who are doing quite well at the minute – Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth. That would be quite entertaining, playing with them, and I think Tiger Woods as well. I think that would be a solid fourball.
‘Monty Panesar once played a charity day a few years back and he for one point on the whole round’ Rory or Spieth?
Rory… probably…
Best shot?
I once hit a driver off the deck to hit a par 5 and got an eagle. That was probably the best shot I’ve hit.
Worst shot?
I played in a golf day the other day when the divot on the first tee went further than the ball. I tried to play it safe with an iron. Yeah, not good.

Best celebrity?
I think generally, when people retire from sport, their golf improves a hell of a lot. Steve Harmison for me is one of the ones who was always a good golfer but since he has retired I think he now plays off about four. He’s one to watch.
Worst celebrity?
I think with cricket, everyone’s pretty decent because thee’s that general hand-eye co-ordination. But I think actually, Monty Panesar is a pretty average golfer. He once played a charity day a few years back and he got one point, on the 18th, in the whole round. So pretty bad.
Worst dressed?
Joe Root actually. He goes for the Rickie Fowler illumines orange, yellow, whatever… so… average.
Biggest bandit?
Erm… Not sure. Dunno.
Best tip?
That is a tough one. I’ve not really received any. I probably need some, that’s what I’m missing out on.
If I was a golfer…
Sergio Garcia. Bit maverick, can’t putt.
