WITB: Jordan Spieth | John Deere Classic
The Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth continued what is turning out to be an incredible year after taking his fifth PGA Tour title at the John Deere Classic.
The 21-year old has won the tournament in two of the past three years after a final round 68 was enough to set up a playoff with Tom Gillis at TPC Deere Run.
Spieth dispatched of Gillis at the second playoff hole, to claim his fifth title ahead of the third Major of the year at St Andrews.
“I came here for a reason, and we accomplished that reason,” said Spieth “I think we certainly have some momentum going into next week.
“I need to fine tune my driver,” admitted Spieth. “I love where my putting is at. Really my pace control, my speed is awesome right now.
“Obviously going to have to adjust to the greens over there, but still, understanding how hard I’m hitting it, given the slopes.”
Spieth will have a little time before he jets off to The Open Championships in his bid to claim a third consecutive Major title.
