Ian Poulter one shot off lead at Crowne PlazaMay 24, 2015 News & Tour
Kevin Na holds lead ahead of the final round
Ian Poulter trails American Kevin Na by one shot ahead of the final round at the Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club.
Poulter shot a two-under par 68 to sit one under American Na, who leads at 11-under par after three rounds.
Best & Worst with Jamie Donaldson
Poulter is looking to add the Colonial plaid jacket to his collection, saying: “I can always deal with another plaid jacket in my closet so it will look just fine with my outfit tomorrow.”
“I’m in good position. Kevin’s playing well and there’s a few guys right behind as well.”
The 39-year old Englishman missed a seven-foot birdie putt at 18th which would have seen him join Na at the top of the leaderboard.
“I’m definitely playing some great golf,” Poulter told Sky Sports. “It’s about holing putts at the right time.”
“I just need to hole a few more putts and I think I will be there,” added Poulter.
With storms affecting Saturday start times, forecast bad weather could see the contest cut short.
How to understand hooks and slices
“Hopefully we can get some golf in tomorrow. We’re going to have to wait and see what the weather’s going to do with us,” said Poulter.
American Na is well aware that a low scoring round could be needed to take the title: “I can see someone shooting 61 or 62, but you know, it is out there.
“It’s hiding somewhere. It’s hard to find it because you have to be so precise off the tee, second shot, putts and everything.
“I know the hole locations tomorrow are going to be difficult. So honestly, not really, I don’t really see a 61 or 62. Maybe 63 or 64 maybe.”
