England Golf has announced that Your Golf Travel will be the title sponsor of its flagship men’s championship, the Brabazon Trophy.
The agreement means that the 2015 champion will be re-presented with the trophy by Your Golf Travel ambassador Lee Westwood.
Andrew Harding, the co-founder of Your Golf Travel, said: “We’re delighted to extend our relationship with England Golf to included title sponsorship of the Brabazon Trophy.
“It is one of the premier events on the amateur calendar and we look forward to seeing some of the world’s best golfers take on Hollinwell in June. Additionally, we’re also pleased to announce that Lee Westwood, Your Golf Travel ambassador, will present the trophy to the winner later in the year.”
‘Our relationship will help raise the profile of both the Brabazon Trophy and golf in England’ The Brabazon Trophy – the English men’s open amateur stroke play – is one of the majors of amateur golf and attracts entries from leading players around the world. It will be held on the Hollinwell course from Jun 24-27.
England Golf chief executive David Joy said: “We are delighted to welcome Your Golf Travel as title sponsors of the Brabazon. We already work closely together to grow the game and this underlines our relationship and will help us to raise the profile both of the Brabazon Trophy and golf in England.”
The field for the Brabazon is made up of exempt players and 60 who come through qualifying events. The southern qualifier was held recently and won by Ben Amor, from Marlborough, who set a course record at Liphook in Hampshire.
Amor carded six birdies and an eagle in his round of 65 and will hope to take this form into the Brabazon. He said: “This is a nice start to the year. It’s still early in the season and it’s nice to know my golf game is roughly where I want it.”
