Disabled Golf Association announces 2015 schedule
The disability Golf Association has unveiled its line-up for events, to be held at some of the UK’s top venues.
Highlights will include the ‘Race To Burhill’, which is played at seven BGL courses. The top three finishers in each qualify for the final at Burhill in Surry, as well as a visit to Brocket Hall in June and the Golf Trust OPen at the Shire in July.
Events co-ordinator Graeme Robertson said: “Our main focus is on golf as a therapy and for rehabilitation, but that’s not to say there isn’t some stiff competition.”
Robertson explained how the 2014 season was highly successful for the association, which counts former Ryder Cup captain Mark James as its patron.
“Our sincere thanks have to go for the support from Captain’s Charities around the country, so we can carry on providing an opportunity for all kinds of disabled people to enjoy golf for competition, and the all important 19th hole,” added Roberston.”
‘Going to clubs who are genuinely interested in what we do makes a world of difference’ The association will be running an order of merit with places up for grabs on Team England to play for the Oldfield Trophy against Wales at The Vale in September.
