County records more holes-in-one than any other.
Golfers in Yorkshire recorded more holes-in-one than any other county in England, according to Boss Watches’ H1Club and HowDidIDo.
Of the 2,295 aces recorded between April and November, Yorkshire golfers recorded 183, with Lancashire coming second with 178.
Just three were recorded in Rutland, the smallest county in England.
A H1Club spokesperson said: “The data indicates golfers in the north are the nation’s ‘hot-shots’ off the tee and we encourage golfers down south to rise to the challenge.”
‘I said out loud "Come on, at least hit one good drive today"’ The Boss Watches H1Club has rewarded more than 4,700 golfers with a limited edition timepiece for scoring a hole-in-one during a club competition.
David Flower, 52, from Southampton, was the first to do so on a par four this year.
He scored his maiden ace with a driver on the 260-yard fourth hole on the Blackwater Course at Wellow.
He said: “I was three quarters of the way through a poor round – topping and three-putting a lot – and stood on the 13th tee and said out loud ‘come on, at least hit one good drive’.
“After a good driven my two playing partners said, ‘good shot, three putts for a par’. Approaching the green, so after a few swear words I went behind the green looking for it.
“After a couples of minutes one of my partners looked in the hole and shouted, ‘yes, mine’s a pint’ – and a £126 bar bill later…”
