South East: Open secretary joins Denham
David Cromie, the recent secretary of 2014 Open championship venue Royal Liverpool, has been appointed as secretary of Buckinghamshire’s Denham GC.
Cromie oversaw the Open at Hoylake, when the venue received plentiful praise from the golfing community.
“To be offered the opportunity to serve as secretary of one of the finest members’ golf clubs is an immense privilege,” said Cromie, who captained the Army and Combined Services golf teams during his military career.
‘I very much look forward to improving the already high standards on offer at Denham’ Cromie entered golf management in 1998 and in 2001 he was appointed secretary of Richmond in 2001. Six years later he moved to Coombe Hill in Kingston-upon-Thames, before taking over at Royal Liverpool two years later.
Denham chairman David Jones said: “I am delighted at the prospect of David Cromie taking up the position of club secretary at Denham. He brings a wealth of relevant experience following his many years at the top echelons of club administration. I have no doubt that Denham will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
Denham celebrated its centenary in 2010 and each September hosts the Denham Bowl, a scratch foursomes competition open to teams from 30 other clubs throughout the UK.
