Video highlights: Hyo Joo Kim wins Evian Championship
The 19-year-old made birdie to become the third youngest major winner in history.
Webb, 39, won the LPGA Rookie of the Year after her first win in 1995 – the same year Kim was born.
The youngster, who was yet to win on the LPGA Tour, admitted the nerves really kicked in at the 18th despite taking a lead into the final round.
“No, I’m not nervous on the first, but I’m nervous at the 18th hole tee shot.
“I knew If I didn’t score the birdie then I didn’t win the play, so I thought that I have to do only birdie,” she said.
Webb paid tribute to Kim’s tee-shot on 18 which set up the birdie for victory
“Yeah, the shot was really impressive,” she said. “I let the foot off the pedal a little bit, which probably let her have a little bit more of a free putt at it. But she still had to make it and she did.
“Impressive for a 19‑year old. The putt’s probably 19‑year old nerves, but the shot is definitely very mature. She played great today.
“It’s been an up‑and‑down year. Obviously got the two wins early but decided to make some changes. You know, I’m excited for next year, end of this year and next year.
“I hit shots today that I don’t think I’ve ever been able to hit, so I’m really excited about that. Obviously wasn’t meant to be. I believe in fate a little bit, and I wasn’t meant to win.”
