Play was suspended at the KLM Open when Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti was hit on the head by a golf ball.
Zanotti, who won the BMW International Open earlier this season, was on the 16th fairway when he was injured by a ball struck from the 14th tee.
The 31-year-old did not lose consciousness and immediately received medical attention on the course from a doctor and a paramedic.
The doctor quickly established he was not in any immediate danger after following the medical protocol for this type of injury. He was then subsequently taken to hospital as a precaution for further medical assessment.
Fellow players Felipe Aguilar and Ricardo Gonzalez accompanied him to hospital, and have withdrawn from the tournament to stay with him.
Play was suspended at 11.09am to allow the player to receive treatment and resumed at 1pm.
Miguel Vidaor, Tournament Director for The European Tour, said: “The latest report from hospital is that all neurological tests have come back clear. We wish Fabrizio a speedy recovery.”
Zanotti had started his round from the tenth at Kennemer Golf Club and was level par after six holes when the incident occurred.
