Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie and Mo Martin had threatened a USA clean sweep of the top honours with victories at the Kraft Nabisco, US Women’s Open and British Open respectively.
But world number two Inbee Park returned to her best to triumph at last month’s LPGA Championship.
