Scotland’s Marc Warren clinched his third European Tour victory after a stunning weekend performance at the Made in Denmark tournament.

The 33-year-old fired his way to the top of the leaderboard with a birdie blitz on his way to a 66 on Saturday before a final round 68 sealed a two-shot win over Wales’ Bradley Dredge.

Philip Archer of England was third on -3 while home favourite Thomas Bjorn was a further shot back in fourth alongside English duo Eddie Pepperell and Oliver Fisher.

The victory marked a productive few weeks for Warren who was third at the Scottish Open and tied 15th at last week’s PGA Championship.

He also picked up decent pay cheques at the Open and Open de France.

It is unlikely Warren can force his way into Paul McGinley’s Ryder Cup team automatically but has improved his chances of an unlikely captain’s pick.

Warren said: “It was hard work. It’s a challenging golf course in good conditions, never mind in the wind and rain today

“I couldn’t quite shake Bradley off. It’s good to see him back to his best.

“For the celebrations we are going to London Stansted, I’ve got my family with me, then flying home so it will be kind of muted tonight then more stuff with friends and family after that.”

Thomas Bjorn feels he has all but secured his place at Gleneagles after enjoying a superb week in front of his home fans.

“Sometimes I wish I was American and I could do this every week!” Bjorn said.

“It wasn’t to be today. There’s a lot of good things to build on. When you are in top 10 you’ve had a pretty decent week.

“I’ll speak to Paul (McGinley) tonight but I feel Im’m pretty much there. I might take a couple of weeks off.”
