NCG 2014 Hybrids Test: The ResultsJuly, 2014
Do yourself a favour and ditch the long irons
It’s time to make life easier for yourself.
Get the right hybrid or hybrids in your bag and not only can you wave goodbye to those uncompromising long irons, you will also have a bag with consistent distance gaps and a club for every occasion – be it a tight tee shot, a recovery from the rough or a means of hitting the green from 200 yards.
It’s a no-brainer.
We conducted the test at Moor Allerton GC in Leeds, where we used their state-of-the-art fitting studio complete with Trackman launch monitor, as well as their outdoor practice facilities. Brands were invited to send in hybrids of several lofts with the option to provide custom-fitted samples if they preferred to do so.
“I don’t like to see any alignment aids on a hybrid and I need a strong, neutral flight because my bad shot is a hook. I generally lean towards a compact head”
“I carry two hybrids and use them a lot, both from the tee and off the deck. Anything that gives my shots extra zip without effort is definitely a good thing”
“I’ve never had a hybrid before but all my mates do so it’s high time I saw what they can do for me. I’m keen to see how the results compare to my existing long irons”
